Financial Transparency
The Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) oversees and provides the sharing of financial information in order to inform on how government and tax revenues are spent. DDOE also provides knowledge and tools for citizens, districts, and charters to participate in financials and metrics. This is critical for accountability. The DDOE continues to work towards more automated financial reporting processes, that will include increased transparency with more granular levels.
Financial Responsibility Training and Citizens Budget Oversight Committee (CBOC)
Under Delaware Code, DDOE establishes procedures and appointments for Citizen Budget Oversight Committees in each Delaware district and charter school. Oversight committees include DDOE and representation from families, educators, and taxpayers residing in each district or enrolled in the charter school. Committee members are provided full access to all financial documents in their district/charter committee with redactions permitted only to protect personal student and employee information.
