Delaware aims to enable parents and stakeholders to engage meaningfully in public education, which is only possible when they have access to clear, robust, timely and continuous information about how their students and schools are doing throughout the state. Under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the way schools report information changed during the 2017-2018 school year.

How to Use the Report Card

From the main page of the report card, you can navigate to the state snapshot, navigate to a specific district, charter or school by typing in the name or view a list of all Delaware schools.

The report card is broken into three main areas of data:

  • The snapshot, shares high-level educational information, prioritized by parents, caregivers and families. A user can click more info to learn more about an education area or download the snapshot to view the information from multiple schools.
  • Navigate through four main data areas (climate & culture, academics, educators, and finance) in the top menu to see educational data with additional details like subgroup information or historical trends.
  • View the accountability area to find information on how schools perform in key areas including academic and nonacademic measures relating to college and career readiness for all students and schools identified for additional support.

Stakeholder Engagement Documents

Throughout October 2017, the Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) hosted community conversation meetings that were designed to provide background to the public on the Delaware report cards and gather input from stakeholders to inform revisions to the way information will be shared with the public. This feedback helped develop the design and information shared on the report card.
