Adjustments for Career and Technical Education (CTE) Measures B and C
Over the past several years, Delaware’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs of Study have undergone extensive revisions to ensure alignment between academic and technical instruction. These content shifts have caused many DPAS II Measure B assessments and Measure C Growth Goals to be out of alignment with current Programs of Study. Therefore, a number of Measure B assessments were removed for the 2018-19 school year and new CTE Measure C Growth Goals were published to be used across all CTE subject areas. A comprehensive summary of the adjustments can be found in this document.
Specific Guidance for Use of Science Measures B and C
This document contains an overview of adjustments to the science Measures B and C. The transition from previous Delaware Science content standards to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) has led to the decision to remove certain curricular units from the Delaware Science Coalition materials rotation. In 2017-18, the Department of Education worked with science educators to craft new items aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards for use on Measure B assessments. For the 2018-19 school year, new Measure B assessments are available in the following science areas: Grade 6, Grade 7, Grade 8, Grade 9, Biology, and Chemistry. The pre-assessments for these subject areas will be available by the end of September, with post-assessments being available by the end of November. The Department plans to release revised Measure B assessments for other grades and science subject areas in the 2019-20 school year. The content shifts in some elementary grades have caused a few DPAS II Measure B assessments to be out of alignment. Given the timeline of assessment release in the elementary grade levels, a temporary ONE YEAR (2018-19) adjustment to the process is being offered. Grade levels that are affected by altered curriculum scopes in science include: Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. This guidance has also been posted in Performance Plus assessments for the impacted grade levels.
Measure B Test Security
Educators utilizing Measure B assessments as part of the state’s Student Improvement Component (Component V) for educator evaluation are required to read and acknowledge the Measure B Disclaimer and Acknowledgement, Security Practices document, and Test Security for Measure B document before administering a Measure B assessment. Districts and charter schools must keep a signed copy of the acknowledgement on file for each educator.
