Monica Gant
Monica Minor Gant, PhD serves as the associate secretary of the Teaching and Learning Support team at the Delaware Department of Education. The team is responsible for many of Delaware’s most critical instructional efforts including increasing the rigor of coursework and learning statewide for all learners; providing guidance to public districts and schools across the state, including alignment of district curriculum to content standards; overseeing our student assessment system; and the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

Prior to this role, Dr. Gant held several district-level positions in the Clarke County School District in Athens, GA including Executive Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning, and Associate Superintendent of Instructional Services and School Performance. After teaching for ten years and serving as a building principal for sixteen years in the Columbus City School District in Columbus, Ohio, she served as a School Transformation Coach with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction providing coaching, mentoring, technical assistance, and onsite support for school principals and district leaders.
Dr. Gant earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, her Master of Science in Education from the University of Dayton, and her Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
