Delaware continues its work on the Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five (PDG B-5) through the collaboration of the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Social Services, and the Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families.
PDG B-5 Strategic Planning Synthesis
January was the conclusion of our stakeholder engagement meetings, the final step of the PDG B-5 grant-funded strategic planning process. This past month was dedicated to meeting with groups that shared information during the needs assessment portion of the grant work to brainstorm solutions to uncovered issues.
Much work has taken place during these last steps of engagement:
- Identifying key metrics and stakeholders;
- Realigning tangible goals with existing work; and
- Prioritizing areas of approach.
February 2020 will allow the Delaware Early ChildhoodCouncil time for synthesis of brainstormed strategic approaches towards a shared future vision for the early childhood mixed delivery system. Through this synthesis, DECC will tie the PDG B-5 work into other statewide B-8 mandates,as well as current K-3 efforts.
Organization of PDG B-5 Strategic Approaches
This diagram is a visual aid for defining opportunities and enablers identified during the needs assessment. Stakeholders grouped their solutions during brainstorming sessions by these opportunities. These “strategic approaches,” or short-, mid-, and long-term solutions suggested by stakeholders, will be what informs the Delaware Early Childhood Council’s recommendations initial Strategic Plan.
Reminders:
The completion of the PDG B-5 grant-funded strategic planning efforts remains on track for completion by March 2020.
The Delaware Early Childhood Council still anticipates the adoption of recommended strategic approaches into its own Strategic Plan. Please see the DECC calendar for further involvement.
