The Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) releases annual educator preparation program reports as one way to measure and assess the quality of Delaware programs in their ability to recruit, train, and develop quality educators. About half of the state’s early career educators are prepared in Delaware. These reports are part of a larger effort to strengthen educator preparation programs throughout the state.
Scoring
A program report is generated when an educator preparation program has had more than ten (10) educators working in Delaware over the past five (5) years. Reports consider the past five years of program data.
Program data is scored based on six (6) domains: Recruitment, Candidate Performance, Employment and Placement, Retention, Graduate Performance, and Perceptions. Each domain includes two (2) to four (4) metrics.
Based on the scores, programs earn a renewal status in accordance with Delaware Regulation 290 (see table below). Programs are then classified as Renewed, Renewed with Conditions, orProgram on Probation. Smaller programs may also be classified as a Program Under Further Review due to insufficient data.
