Service Overview

The School Success Center at the University of Delaware provides curriculum-specific professional learning, coaching, and implementation support for high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) in ELA, math, and foundational literacy. Our services are grounded in the sciences of reading and writing and include job-embedded coaching, leadership development, and PLC facilitation. We support schools in adopting, implementing, and sustaining HQIM with a focus on instructional coherence, data-driven decision-making, and equitable student outcomes. All services align with Delaware Department of Education priorities and are tailored to meet the needs of educators, leaders, and students across diverse school communities.

Building District Capacity

The School Success Center builds district capacity by partnering with leaders and educators to align vision, systems, and practices that support high-quality instruction. We provide professional learning, coaching, and tools tailored to district goals, helping leaders develop instructional coherence and teachers implement HQIM effectively. Through leadership development, PLC facilitation, and job-embedded coaching, we strengthen collaboration across roles and build sustainable structures for continuous improvement. Our support fosters shared ownership, data-informed decision-making, and equitable outcomes, ensuring all stakeholders are equipped to lead and sustain instructional change.

Addressing Equity

The School Success Center centers equity by ensuring all students, especially those historically underserved, have access to high-quality, standards-aligned instruction. Our curriculum-based professional learning supports educators in using HQIM to meet the needs of multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and those with unfinished learning. We embed culturally and linguistically sustaining practices, train educators to analyze disaggregated data, and adapt instruction using embedded supports within the curriculum. Through coaching, PLCs, and leadership development, we build educator capacity to deliver rigorous, inclusive instruction that affirms students’ identities and ensures equitable access to grade-level content and meaningful learning opportunities.
