New Teacher Center

New Teacher Center (NTC) is a national nonprofit with a 25-year track record of improving instructional quality and student outcomes through evidence-based professional learning. We partner with states, districts, and schools to strengthen instructional leadership, accelerate student learning, and build internal capacity for sustained improvement. NTC brings extensive experience supporting HQIM implementation in both English Language Arts and mathematics. Our model is grounded in evidence-based adult learning theory and validated through third-party evaluations.

About Our Team

NTC’s Program Team includes 28 individuals who work with our partners through coaching, facilitating, and capacity-building. Each of NTC’s projects is led by highly qualified personnel, chosen based on their relevant training and experience. 67% of NTC’s Program Team are from diverse backgrounds and/or underserved populations.

Service Overview

In our initial implementation and ongoing support, New Teacher Center works with district and school leaders to: (1) build their capacity to create and sustain the enabling conditions for curriculum implementation; (2) deepen their knowledge of the essential components of the curriculum; and (3) use curriculum-specific tools to monitor implementation and effectiveness. We provide ongoing support for teachers by: (1) delivering initial curriculum orientations; (2) training educators on protocols for curriculum-based PLCs, including observations to ensure implementation of protocols; and (3) offering job-embedded coaching to teachers and/or instructional coaches to ensure the use of effective instructional practices.

Building District Capacity

NTC’s leadership coaching model equips system leaders, school leaders, instructional coaches, and teachers to support and sustain HQIM implementation by building internal capacity and providing actionable tools. Our coaching extends beyond individuals. Our professional learning sessions focus on the necessary knowledge, skills, resources, and tools that stakeholder in the system needs to ensure the high-quality implementation of curriculum. Leaders receive the learning and tools they need to monitor the breadth of implementation, while coaches and teachers receive in-depth learning around the internalization, analysis of student work, and assessment protocols necessary for their depth of implementation.

Addressing Equity

Foundational to NTC’s approach is a framework called the Optimal Learning Environment.

This framework was designed based on the belief that every student can achieve high expectations and provides the conditions for effective, standards-aligned teaching and learning.

Educators prioritize knowing their students, having a deep understanding of the content they teach, and collaborate regularly to maximize student success.

Instruction addresses the needs of every learner with ever-present attention to equity and continuous academic, social, and emotional growth.

When students learn in Optimal Learning Environments, they have access to a high-quality, universally designed, culturally sustaining, and evidence-based curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
