Service Overview
The IMSE Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Plus Course is a hands-on, interactive class that provides a complete understanding of IMSE’s enhanced Orton-Gillingham and the knowledge and tools necessary to apply it in the classroom. While participating in this accredited Structured Literacy course, teachers will learn about the structure and foundation of the English language as well as the research that comprises the science of reading. Teachers will have an understanding of how to assess and teach students in all three tiers of RTI, including students with dyslexia. Teachers will be able to evaluate and teach students in the areas of phonological skills, phonics/word recognition, spelling, and writing. The curriculum materials and training provided in the course will equip teachers to implement IMSE’s foundational reading skills approach grounded in the principles of Structured Literacy, in all instructional tiers, alongside their core instructional program. IMSE trainings are available in a variety of formats including in-person, live virtual and asynchronous.
Building District Capacity
IMSE supports district and building leaders by offering targeted professional development that aligns with the science of reading. Specialized Administrator Courses for both OG+ and Morphology+ help leaders understand the methodology, instructional expectations, and the critical components of Structured Literacy. These courses equip administrators to support implementation with fidelity, integrate IMSE practices within existing curricula, and drive district-wide literacy improvement efforts.
Additionally, IMSE certification pathways (such as the Comprehensive OG+ or Morphology+ certifications) create leadership pipelines by qualifying educators and administrators to serve as in-district trainers or practicum supervisors, deepening internal capacity and reducing reliance on external providers over time.
At the core of IMSE’s model is robust teacher training rooted in the science of reading and Structured Literacy. IMSE offers a range of accredited courses-including OG+, Morphology+, and Phonological Awareness-tailored to specific grade bands, instructional roles, and student needs. Training is explicit, systematic, cumulative, and multimodal, preparing teachers to address the full spectrum of reading development and literacy challenges, including dyslexia and other learning differences.
Options for ongoing support through fidelity courses, coaching, and practicum experiences ensures that instruction is implemented with consistency and high quality. Teachers gain tools for assessment, differentiated instruction, and progress monitoring, all aligned with MTSS and RTI frameworks.
By integrating training, coaching, curriculum alignment, and leadership development, IMSE provides districts with a scalable pathway to build internal expertise, strengthen instructional coherence, and elevate literacy outcomes for all students.
Addressing Equity
IMSE addresses educational equity by equipping educators with the knowledge, tools, and practices needed to meet the diverse needs of all students. IMSE’s structured literacy programs, including Orton-Gillingham Plus (OG+) and Morphology+, are grounded in the science of reading and designed to be explicit, systematic, cumulative, and multimodal-making them accessible and effective for a wide range of learners, including students with dyslexia, English learners, and those in all tiers of MTSS.
IMSE also promotes equitable access through flexible course formats (live virtual, in-person, asynchronous), enabling districts to include all instructional staff, from paraprofessionals to administrators, in their literacy initiatives. By aligning training with high-quality, evidence-based curricula and offering continued support, IMSE empowers schools to close opportunity gaps and foster literacy success for every student, in every classroom.
