About Our Team

BetterLesson currently has over 300 instructional coaches who can be deployed flexibly across schools and districts across Delaware. We deploy coaches for each partnership based on a personalized coach-match process. Given our deep bench of coaches, we can match coaches for your educators who best match the needs of the District. They average nine+ years of experience as teachers, instructional leaders, or principals and have experience as innovators, having pioneered new programs and curricula or led technology initiatives. Our contractors reflect the school populations we serve, with diversity in race, gender, linguistic background, culture, and experience.

Service Overview

BetterLesson delivers proven professional learning that translates directly into student achievement. We provide comprehensive, curriculum-based professional learning for ELA, math, and science HQIMs, guiding educators from adoption to sustained implementation. Our services also include expert, research-based training in the Science of Reading for all K-12 educators. With a demonstrated record of boosting student outcomes through workshops, personalized coaching, and Learning Walks, we partner with districts to turn strategic goals into measurable results, ensuring every student benefits from high-quality, equitable instruction.

Building District Capacity

We build capacity using a connected ecosystem that includes workshops, coaching, Learning Walks, and asynchronous courses and strategies. Participants and coaches use our Try-Measure-Learn framework to translate change in practice into actionable strategies. Teachers continuously take the next step towards their desired outcome by measuring impact on students and iterating as needed.

Concurrently, we equip district and building leaders to support this growth. Leaders attend workshops and learn to conduct non-evaluative Learning Walks, building their capacity to assess and sustain shifts in instruction and provide targeted feedback. This process empowers leaders to sustain effective implementation independently, creating lasting system-wide capacity.

Addressing Equity

BetterLesson’s services prioritize instructional and leadership approaches that support all students. Our professional learning helps educators examine their assumptions and adapt curricula to meet the needs of every student. We focus on building teachers’ capacity to provide every student access to rigorous, grade-level instruction and the opportunity to meet high standards. BetterLesson continuously strives to make an excellent education for ALL the cornerstone of our society.
