Service Overview

Initial Implementation

Initial Implementation includes four sessions designed to introduce participants to the instructional design, components, and standards support within the program.

  • Program Overview is a broad overview of program structure, spiral design behind the instructional framework, lesson structure, texts, and assessment.
  • Program Resources covers whole-group, small-group, and independent components. Participants explore Benchmark Universe, including the online Teacher’s Resource System.
  • Using the Resources goes deeper into the instruction found within Read-Aloud, phonics/word study, reading and writing mini-lessons, and small-group lessons. This session also includes planning for instruction.
  • Program Review is separated into grade bands and covers resources and content previously shared.

Ongoing Implementation: Support for Teachers

Follow-up trainings are available for Benchmark Advance/Adelante through topic-focused sessions. The topics are designed to enhance teachers’ understanding and enable them to help students be as successful as possible. For Districts wanting to go beyond initial and ongoing training topics, classroom demonstrations and teacher coaching can be purchased for further job-embedded learning.

*See Benchmark’s detailed Professional Development Brochure for further details on topic sessions and additional support.

Ongoing Implementation: Support for Leaders

We partner with LEAs to offer consultation session that will ensure professional learning (PL) is effectively applied and consistently implemented to improve instructional practices. Our sessions involve in-depth discussions with leadership teams to identify specific needs and goals, allowing us to tailor our support to each LEA’s unique context.

Building District Capacity

Benchmark Education is committed to providing a comprehensive implementation plan designed to support teachers, literacy coaches and leadership teams. The dissemination strategy involves a structured, as well as customized, approach to ensure success and sustainability. To offer districts flexibility in their initial and ongoing training options, Benchmark provides a combination of onsite, live virtual, and on-demand training formats. Additionally, Benchmark Education’s train-the-trainer model is designed to build capacity by training key instructional leaders who will become content experts. We believe in engaging educators in a variety of modalities that will help them to accomplish their PL goals while implementing the resources.
