Michael Saylor
Michael L. Saylor, Ph.D., serves as the chief of staff at the Delaware Department of Education, where he has worked since 2018. Dr. Saylor brings over 10 years of teaching experience and 15 years of leadership experience in education. He previously worked as an administrator in both Delaware and Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, he served as a reading specialist and instructional coach, and he began his career as an elementary school teacher.
In the chief of staff role, he will:
- Coordinate across the agency to drive outcomes on the most important priorities.
- Anticipate challenges and work with leaders to address them proactively.
- Align and monitor our strategic plans so that our work is coordinated and impactful.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to ensure clarity, coherence, and progress.
A recognized voice in workforce development and innovative staffing models, Dr. Saylor presents nationally on Delaware’s efforts to build educator pathways and improve educator effectiveness. In addition to his state leadership, he serves as a graduate faculty member at Albany State University, where he teaches courses in educational leadership.
