Recommended Contest Assign Guidelines
The DIAA has adopted the NFHS playing codes, sanctions and other rules except as modified by the DIAA Board [Reg.1008/1009.1.1.1] this includes the NFHS Officials Code Of Ethics. Additionally, in order to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest, the DIAA Officials Committee has approved the following recommendations for the assignment of officials to both regular season contests and conference/state championships in all sports.
- No individual should officiate an event/match/contest at the varsity level if he/she is an employee of one of the participating schools.
- No individual should officiate an event/match/contest at any level if he/she has a son, daughter, nephew, niece, grandson, or granddaughter
on one of the participating teams. (Be cautious if you even have a child in one of the participating schools) - No individual should officiate an event/match/contest at the varsity level if he/she has an immediate family member, grandparent,
grandchild, nephew, niece, uncle, or aunt on the coaching staff of one of the participating teams. - No individual should officiate an event/match/contest at the varsity level if, within the past four years, he/she attended one of the participating schools.
- No individual should officiate an event/match/contest at the varsity level if he/she coaches in the same sport during the same season.
- No individual should officiate an event/match/contest at the varsity level if, within the past four years, he/she was a coach in the same sport at one of the participating schools.
