DIAA Announces Implementation of Shot Clock for Varsity High School Basketball Beginning 2027–2028 Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dover, DE — January 19, 2026 — The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) announced today that a shot clock will be implemented for varsity girls and boys high school basketball games beginning with the 2027–2028 basketball season.

At its November 13, 2026 meeting, the DIAA Board of Directors unanimously voted to adopt the use of a shot clock for all varsity girls and boys basketball contests at DIAA member schools starting in the 2027–2028 season.

In an unforgettable championship battle, No. 3 Red Lion Christian Academy emerged victorious in double overtime with a thrilling 22–21 win over No. 1 Indian River High School.

2025 DIAA Unified Flag Football & Class 3A Football Champions Crowned

Dover, DE — November 28 —The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) proudly announces the 2025 DIAA Unified Flag Football and Class 3A Football State Champions.

UNIFIED FLAG FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS – CAPE HENLOPEN

No. 5 Cape Henlopen claimed the title with a hard fought 46–34 victory over No. 2 Caesar Rodney.

CLASS 3A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS – MIDDLETOWN

In a highly anticipated rematch of the 2024 Class 3A Football State Championship, No. 1 Middletown secured back-to-back titles with a 28-14 victory over No. 2 Salesianum.

DIAA 3A Football Championship is Set — 2A & 1A Semifinal Action Continues Tomorrow

Dover, DE — November 21 —  The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) is excited to announce the matchup for the 2025 DIAA Class 3A Football State Championship. The Class 2A and Class 1A semifinals continue tomorrow, Saturday, November 22, with championship matchups to be finalized following those games.

All DIAA Football State Championship games will be hosted at Delaware State University’s Alumni Stadium.
