2021 DIAA Champions Crowned in Field Hockey and Boys Soccer

Dover, DE (November 22, 2021) – DIAA State Champions were crowned in Field Hockey and Boys Soccer on Saturday at Dover High School.  Four different teams took home championships; Division 1 and Division 2 Field Hockey saw teams continue their championship streaks, while Division 1 and 2 Boys Soccer crowned programs who have been previous DIAA champions.   

FIELD HOCKEY

#1 Delmar won it’s 6th straight Championship against #3 Newark Charter School, 8-0 in the Division 2 Field Hockey Championship.  

#1 Cape Henlopen beat #3 Smyrna 4-0 in the D1 Field Hockey Championship.  This is Cape Henlopen’s 5th straight Championship and their 12th Championship since 1979.  

The state finalists in each division, Newark Charter and Smyrna, were both making their first ever appearances in the field hockey state championship game.

SOCCER

In D1 Boys Soccer Championship action, Salesianum beat top seeded and undefeated Caesar Rodney 2-0 to win their 20th DIAA Soccer Championship since 1983.    

#2 Caravel beat #12 St. Andrew’s 4-0 in the D2 Championship game.  This is Caravel’s 5th Boys Soccer Championship in school history, also winning titles in 2018, 2017, 2014, and 2009.
