(Dover, DE) November 14, 2022 – The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) held its Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 12 at Killen’s Pond State Park in Felton. Boys and girls team champions were crowned in both Division One and Division Two, while individual honors were also awarded as the top fifteen performers in each division earned medals.
Salesianum claimed the boys team title in Division One, with Middletown finishing an extremely close second. On the girls side of Division One, Padua Academy turned in a dominant performance placing six runners in the top ten to finish first overall. Charter School of Wilmington placed second.
In Division Two, Tatnall held off St. Andrew’s to take home the boys team championship, while the St. Andrew’s girls produced impressive performances to claim the team title. Archmere placed as the runner-up on the girls side of Division Two.
Middletown’s Jonathan Drew was the top finisher amongst Division One boys with a meet best time of 16:06.20. Padua’s Sophia Holgado was the Division One girls individual champion, turning in a time of 19:10.80.
Delaware Military Academy’s Ethan Walther was the Division Two boys individual champion, crossing the finish line in an impressive 16:18.30. Indian River’s Brynn Crandell won her second Division Two individual state championship in as many years, turning in the best girls time of the day at 18:49.50.
