DIAA Spring Championships Updates – June 6, 2022

Dover, DE (June 6, 2022) – Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) spring sport championship updates below.

Girls Soccer:

D1:

Padua defeated Middletown on penalty kicks to win their 4th straight girls soccer title; 3-3 3-2PKs. This is Padua’s 12th title in school history since 2006.

1 Caravel def. #3 Sussex Central 8-7 to win back to back softball state titles in a rematch of the 2021 title game.

D2:

St. Mark’s defeated Caravel Academy 2-1 to capture their first girls soccer title since 2008.

Boys Lacrosse:

#2 Salesianum def. #5 Cape Henlopen 13-11 to capture back to back boys lacrosse championships. This is their 12th boys lacrosse state title in school history. These two squads also previously met in the 2021 and 2019 state title games.

Golf:

Sussex Academy won their first DIAA golf state title on Wednesday at Odessa National Golf Club. This is Sussex Academy’s first DIAA championship in any sport.

Sussex Academy – 506
Tatnall – 512
Archmere – 545
Tower Hill – 556
Caesar Rodney – 563
No overall low winner was awarded this year, instead the lowest 5 boys and girls scores received medals.

Baseball:

The baseball finals are tonight. The championship will be played at Frawley Stadium and first pitch is scheduled for 7:00pm. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased through GoFan.

Ticketing and admission for all 2021-2022 DIAA Championships will be digital through our official ticketing partner, GoFan. No cash tickets will be sold onsite at championship events and all tickets must be purchased through GoFan. DIAA has created a resource page (click here to visit) to assist with answering frequently asked questions and other troubleshooting issues about digital ticketing fans may have. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time.

DIAA is proud to be a recipient of the Delaware Division of Public Health’s Tobacco Prevention Community Contract.  Funding for the Contract is provided by the Delaware Health Fund and managed by the American Lung Association in Delaware.
