Thomas Neubauer to retire as Executive Director
Dover, DE (April 11, 2019) – Congratulations to Thomas Neubauer, who will retire this August from his position as Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) executive director. Neubauer announced his retirement today during the DIAA Board of Directors monthly meeting.
Neubauer has spent the last 39 years working in Delaware education. He began his career as a social studies teacher at Caravel Academy and Middletown High School, and he also served as athletic director at Middletown High School before coming to DIAA. Neubauer has spent the last 14 years at DIAA. For 11 years he served as the coordinator of officials and events. He has held the position of DIAA executive director for the past three years.
During his years as athletic director, Neubauer was honored for his work as Athletic Director of the Year in 2002 and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Award of Merit for Delaware in 2002 and 2008. He is a lifetime member of the National Interscholastic Association of Athletic Administrators and has achieved certifications as athletic administrator and master athletic administrator.
