Nomination Statement

“Kayla Clausen is the daughter of Kathy Vezmar and Timothy Clausen of Milford. Kayla is a senior in the Performing Arts Program at Milford High School. She is ranked number two in her class, with a 4.82 cumulative grade point average. Kayla has been an active member of Milford High School’s Mispillion Chapter of the National Honors Society, the Milford High School Marching Band, and the Kent County Honor Band. Outside of school Kayla has been a member of the Competitive Dance Team at Coastal Dance Academy where her team has won several national titles.”

“My motivation comes directly from the power of a promise. In elementary school, I promised myself that I would earn straight A’s every year until graduation. In middle school, I promised my parents that I was going to work hard enough to be able to pay for my own college education. Today, having kept those promises, I am beyond grateful for those who have supported me along the way, and I promise that I will continue to make you proud.”
