Esunge Ntiege
Freire School
Nomination Statement
“Esunge is the daughter of Eric and Mbange and a first generation immigrant from Cameroon. She has been a student at Freire since the 8th grade, and in that time has left an indelible mark on Freire’s community. Esunge has served as president of the National Honor Society and as an active member of Freire’s Student Government. This year as a senior, Esunge was enrolled in every Advanced Placement and dual-enrollment course offered. Through her participation in UD’s EntreX course, Esunge’s team placed first in the preliminary competition, earning a chance to compete on a global stage at the Diamond Challenge Summit. To say Esunge is hardworking is an understatement. She is a civic-minded leader who embodies the values of a lifelong learner. Esunge will continue her studies at Cornell University studying neurobiology and human behavior in the fall.”
“My Cameroonian grandparents instilled in me the value of education. Since my arrival in America, I’ve witnessed firsthand how knowledge can empower individuals and how ignorance can devastate them. My search for knowledge is what has, and will always fuel me. I plan to pursue this never-ending quest by studying neurobiology and human behavior.”
