Briana Hernandez-Cuevas

Howard High School of Technology

Nomination Statement

“Daughter of Maria Cuevas of Wilmington, Briana has been an awesome example for the young ladies who will follow her lead. She overcame any stigma that may have existed as she studied a male-dominated trade. She plans to earn her advanced automotive technician certificate and eventually transfer into an engineering career. She plans to study aerospace engineering at Penn State. Briana has earned a 4.0 GPA and is a member of student government and Upward Bound Math and Science. She is an honest, hardworking and determined individual.”

“Most of my inspiration comes from my family for sure, without my mom’s support and discipline, I wouldn’t be succeeding academically right now. I especially learned the hardworking trait from her, she works very hard. I also learned to get through tough times because of the strength I learned from her.”
