“On August 12, 1998, my parents moved to the United States from Communist Albania, where they were marginalized by the federal government for decades due to their desires for private citizenship and individual liberty. Dreaming of becoming successful, they faced poverty and weren’t allowed to attend college. They immigrated to the U.S. to give me what they were stripped of as young adults: opportunity. Their story drives me to take initiative, follow my passions, explore my intellectual interests, and achieve.”
