She has always selected the most challenging courses from honors, Advanced Placement, Academic Challenge and dual enrollment opportunities throughout her high school career. She is a valued member of the marching band and the Laurel Leo Lions Club, volunteers in numerous community events, and is a National Honor Society member. Heavyn’s future aspirations are to attend the University of Alabama or Clemson University and major in human development and family studies.”

“A lesson I learned is that I don’t always have to strive for perfection. When I started high school, I constantly worried about making my assignments ‘perfect.’ However, I realized that striving for perfection was restricting my personal growth. It’s a hard pill to swallow, but mistakes are inevitable. I started seeing these mistakes as learning opportunities instead of failure. Now, I am more confident in my work, and I feel satisfied with a job well done.”
