Atinuke Aliu

Penn (William) High School

Nomination Statement

“Over the past four years, Atinuke has been a part of the jazz band, marching winter percussion as section leader, little big band, sax studio as director, Tri-M Music Honor Society as vice president, and marching band as drum major. She also has been involved in Science Olympiad, where the team has medaled for the last three years. She volunteers at the Blood Bank of Delmarva and helps children explore science-related concepts at Hagley Museum. She plans to narrow down her academic pursuits at either the University of Pennsylvania or Johns Hopkins University.”

“Coming from a background that places a strong emphasis on education has influenced me to do the same. I owe a big thanks to God, my family, friends, and uplifting teachers for their invaluable support and guidance. I owe additional thanks to the music community. They have shaped my high school experience and taught me things that have proved beneficial even off the field. Plus, having rehearsal to look forward to helped get me through some slower school days.”
