Nomination Statement
Souritra, son of Soumik and Mousumi Bhattacharjee, is an International Baccalaureate student at Mount Pleasant High School and president of the National Honor Society. He leads with integrity and humility, inspiring through example rather than authority. Always the first to help and last to seek recognition, he balances rigorous coursework with leadership through discipline and organization. Beyond the classroom, he excels in soccer and tennis, mentoring teammates with encouragement and respect, and making a meaningful difference in his community.
“Since immigrating to the U.S. in my freshman year, I have chased every academic, athletic, and social opportunity I could. This mindset helped me adapt, embrace change, and grow into a leader. I mastered tennis, became president of the National Honor Society, and am looking forward to receiving my International Baccalaureate Diploma - things I once hadn't imagined. Supported by family, teachers, peers, and self-discipline, I aim to pursue my research interests in mathematics and technology for my life's next chapter.”
