Nomination Statement
Salma Oropeza-Alcantara is the daughter of Roman Oropeza and Paula Alcantara of Seaford. Salma is an exceptional student who demonstrates an outstanding work ethic. Salma is in the Classic Upward Bound Program and the Green Beret Project. She is ranked second in her class with a weighted GPA of 104.19. Salma will major in advertising, and plans to attend Delaware Technical Community College in Dover in the fall.
“There have been many instances where I faced troubles along my journey. To surmount them, I learned from those who continue to influence me. Some of them are my parents, who work diligently and give meaning to my work ethic. Others are the teachers at Seaford who encourage me to go further. Even those at the Classic Upward Bound Program helped prepare me for the future. All these people have made me flourish into who I am.”
