Nomination Statement
Daughter of Ann and John Flynn of Rehoboth Beach, Colleen is ambitious and has made an exceptional contribution to her school community. She is ranked in the top of her class with a 4.165 cumulative grade point average and has received several academic achievement awards. Colleen is a member of DECA, Honor Society, Student Council, Best Buddies, soccer, unified basketball team, and the founder of New Student Group Club. She has held leadership positions in DECA as the chapter and state vice president. Colleen plans to attend Notre Dame and major in finance.
“I have always strived to be exceptional, not through talent or grandeur, but through consistency and perseverance. Growing up in the cacophonous frenzy of a family of eight, I quickly learned to focus on what I can control: my mindset, my effort, and my actions. My high school experience has been just as chaotic and rewarding as the rest of my life, but I’ve learned that failure is merely a means to success and being uncomfortable is essential to self-actualization.”
