Nomination Statement

Brendan Slonacher, son of Amy and Garrette Slonacher of Greenwood, is an Eagle Scout with impressive academic accomplishments. As a part of Academic Challenge with Delaware Tech and by taking dual enrollment courses, Brendan will earn at least 36 college credits in high school while remaining at the top of his class. Brendan is a member of the marching band, National Honor Society, Physics Club, and the vice president of the Technology Student Association, through which he has helped raised money for school activities, Toys for Tots, and Coastal Clean Up. Brendan plans to pursue a degree in robotic engineering.
“I believe in the power of knowledge and make it a priority to learn as much as I can. My passion lies in building robots for exploration, and human interaction. Through studying physics, chemistry, and biology, I am able to understand the fundamental principles necessary for design. My ultimate goal is to use robotics to improve the lives of people in fields such as medicine and manufacturing, and contribute to the world's progress through my love of learning and robotics.”
