Headshot of Alexander Barry

Nomination Statement

Alexander is an intuitive, meticulous problem-solver, already producing veritable gap-filling engineering research and earning publication in a peer-reviewed journal as the sole author. Since it wouldn't fit into his schedule, Alex is self-studying AP Physics C: Mechanics because he revels in the heavy theoretic lifting required of complex inquiry. He finished in the Top 10 at the International TSA Competition for 3D-CAD, despite only having access to a fraction of the computing resources available to competitors. Alex is a Boy Scout Patrol Leader, Math League captain, clarinetist, varsity tennis player, and dedicated peer tutor. He'll study engineering at Cornell University.
“The people around me have always had a substantial influence on me. Throughout my life, my parents have encouraged me never to accept less than my best. In addition, seeing the success of my peers has driven me to rise up to the challenge and pursue my own achievements. Overall, my success can be attributed significantly to the motivation provided by my community.”
