Nomination Statement
Haley Wehde, daughter of Katrina and Robert Wehde, has been a dedicated member of Christiana Honors Academy since sixth grade. Throughout her time at Christiana, she has demonstrated strong academic commitment, including participation in dual enrollment courses at Wilmington University. Haley is actively involved in school life, contributing to the volleyball team, ASPIRA Club, and stage crew. Beyond the classroom, she pursues her passion for dance, showing discipline and creativity. Haley's commitment to both her studies and extracurricular activities reflects her well-rounded character and steady determination.
“What motivates me to do well in school is the prejudices against women. Being female usually comes with setbacks, with people belittling you because you're a woman, and it's motivated me to prove them wrong and show women are just as strong and capable as a man. In a way, this is like my way to silently protest sexism in a world made for men by men.”
