Nomination Statement
Daughter of Sheng Yang and Kam Kong of Dover, Puiyee Kong is achieving her dreams one step at a time. She is ranked first in her class of 503 seniors. Puiyee strives to have an impact in all she does. Puiyee founded her own club/class at the Dover Public Library where she designed course curriculum to help students learn computer programming skills. She earned the Delaware Volunteer Credit by devoting more than 400 hours of community service, when only 90 were required. Puiyee plans on attending a highly selective college/university to become that someone of achievement and trust in her community.
“I'm so thankful to have a community of friends, family, and teachers who've supported and encouraged me every step of the way. I love trying new things and challenging myself to see how far I can go! My attitude is if you don’t try, you never know what’s possible, and you have a 0% chance of success. Put yourself out there! Even if you only have a 1% chance of something, that’s still a chance you should hold on to.”
