Nomination Statement
Mirta Angel-Gabriel, the daughter of Marcotulio Angel and Cecilia Gabriel, is an exemplary student. Mirta ranked second within her class, with a 4.49 GPA. She is a dedicated student taking Advanced Placement, dual enrollment, and Academic Challenge courses. She also is heavily involved in her school and community, volunteering at a local hospital, serving as an officer in her school's NHS and Student Government Association, and being a board member in Sussex County's Youth Philanthropy Board. Mirta plans to attend a four-year university to attain a degree in biology to work toward becoming a physician assistant.
“Education is an essential aspect of my life. Although my parents did not have the opportunity to pursue their educational dreams, they instilled in me the value of learning at a very young age. Due to this, I grew up challenging myself and seizing the educational opportunities available to me. Despite personal setbacks, I was always encouraged to persevere and fight for my education. Thus, this passion for learning has enabled me to grow and feel empowered to achieve anything.”
