Cab Calloway School of the Arts

Nomination Statement

“Sophia is a wonderful person, a delight to know, with an ebullient spirit and a deep humanity. Her most significant contributions to CCSA are her leadership, advocacy, and service. Sophia’s choice of extracurriculars, such as P4 and Abolitionists, fulfill her desire to help others. Her dedication to a variety of activities has shaped her into a confident leader. She is president of Model UN and B’nai Brith Youth, as well as holds leadership roles in Mock Trial and NHS. Sophia proudly represented CCSA at HOBY and Girls State. Sophia will attend either Brown University or Swarthmore College in the fall.”

“I am inspired by potential. Each person has limitless possibilities when it comes to learning and growing. My advocate personality type which characterizes just 1% of the population, according to the Myers-Briggs test, relates to many of my goals. I aspire to pursue change in society. Internal motivation drives my desire to learn, yet this is enhanced by the encouragement of my family. Coming from a family of educators, I have a love for embracing learning and advocating for others.”
