Oluebube Akujieze

Christiana High School

Nomination Statement

“Oluebube Akujieze is involved in soccer, field hockey, marching band, steel drums, and concert band. She volunteers through the National Honor Society, Newark Senior Center, Nemours Children’s Hospital, Kids Workshop and others. She is ranked 4th in her class with a 4.5 GPA and a Class Officer. Outside of school, she is a part of the STEM-UP Delaware. Recently, she was named a candidate for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. As an honor roll student, she received Academic All-Conference during my sports seasons. Additionally, she made 1st and 2nd Team All-Conference in Field Hockey. ‘Bube’ exemplifies Christiana!”

“My motivation to excel was primarily because of the environment I grew up in. Growing up in Nigeria, my relatives always emphasized the importance of education and the doors it can open for greater things. I always did well in school, however, the constant encouragement and praise I received provided me with more support. Moreover, I enjoy learning. Ultimately, knowing that I want to become a medical doctor, I figured I might as well start early to do well.”
