HILL for Literacy
HILL for Literacy (The HILL) is dedicated to advancing equitable literacy outcomes for PreK-12 students by equipping educators with the knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality, responsive instruction that meets the unique needs of every child. We offer extensive Science of Reading (SOR) professional learning guiding educators in making essential connections to use of HQIM in classroom practice. We are also focused on supporting educators to implement High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) effectively through professional learning, leadership routines, and direct teacher coaching.

Service Overview
HILL empowers educators to effectively implement HQIM and deliver exceptional, highly targeted instruction for every student. HILL is also a RIVET PLPG-vetted professional learning provider and has the expertise to support the adoption and implementation of HQIM across a diverse set of classrooms and schools. HILL’s SOR professional learning is built from empirical evidence centering knowledge and skills related to the reading process. The SOR series translates research findings to practice as educator proficiency in evidence-based knowledge and practices. The series presents a methodology for supporting educators in implementing equitable instruction using HQIM, including culturally and linguistically sustaining practices in their classrooms.
Building District Capacity
The HILL helps build district capacity across all stakeholders including district leaders, building leaders, and teachers. This requires a strategic, collaborative, and sustained approach and HILL Professional Learning aims to reinforce these components. By establishing a shared vision and goals, building collaborative structures, and providing high-quality professional learning in The Science of Reading to inform HQIM implementation, HILL offers strategic, inclusive, and sustained approach.
Addressing Equity
The HILL believes that access drives equity. We offer educators structures, strategies and routines that reinforce this focus on student access. The HILL’s HQIM implementation approach, informed by professional learning in the Science of Reading, offers “fidelity with integrity.” The HILL guides educators to systematically learn each component of their HQIM, understand the reading science behind each material, strategy or routine, and identify how, when and with whom to use it. Equity is prioritized as teachers are supported in optimizing the learning for each student as driven by data. Coherence guides HILL’s approach to implementation so that instructional integrity spans across all classrooms, grade levels, and schools within the district.
