Summer of Opportunity

Summer 2022 is the Summer of Opportunity for all Delaware children! Check out these programs available for K-12 students throughout the state. Opportunities include ongoing camps as well as daily offerings.

All experiences are valuable for children, including those focused on academic learning, social emotional skills, outdoor activities, targeted interests and more. Use the search feature to sort offerings by area, keyword and even grade.

Please note that enrollment in some offerings, such as school-based programs, may only be open to specific populations, such as enrolled students, while others have open admission. This site includes diverse offerings to make it easier for families to navigate opportunities.

323Meet Nile, a Humpback WhaleMeet Nile, a Humpback whale, at this larger than life presentation. A whale expert will bring her life-sized inflatable humpback whale, which participants will actually be able to go inside! Participants will learn about how whales and humans are similar and different, and have a chance to touch baleen, teeth, and bones. The suggested age range is children entering 1st through 6th grade. 324Reptile WondersReptile Wonders is returning to the Greenwood VFW on Tuesday, July 19th at 10:30am! What is that scaly creature over there? Join us as we do a hands-on, interactive presentation with 10-13 different exotic species of reptiles. We bring everything from baby turtles to giant tortoises (exceeding 65 lbs), monitor lizards (over 5" long), to large pythons (over 12" in length). We discuss where these animals can be found, what they eat, and what eats them. Throughout the program we also discuss the animal's adaptations and defenses specific to each reptile.
