About our organization

The Professional Development Center for Educators (PDCE) at the University of Delaware believes that if we design and deliver a coordinated and flexible system of professional learning, teachers will build understanding and collective efficacy and will be able to use HQIM more effectively, and student achievement will improve. We have a clear commitment to HQIM as a necessary lever for teaching and learning. PDCE specifically targets professional learning services to help schools implement HQIM.

Service description

Provide an overview of the materials including the instructional routines, supports for students with learning differences, supports for ELLs, progress assessments, and the content trajectory of the materials with a deep dive into the first unit. We support teachers to make instructional choices that are responsive to student needs.

Delivery method

Initial training either face-to-face or virtual, follow-up support including coaching (face-to-face and virtual) PLCs, department meetings, and follow-up professional learning.

Science of Reading Professional Learning

Sample Service

Service description

We serve a wealth of partners to deliver face-to-face, virtual, or hybrid training in early literacy reading and writing development that incorporates research, curriculum, and instruction. Teachers leave sessions ready and rehearsed with lessons for immediate implementation and procedures for assessment and progress monitoring.

Delivery method

We customize services to meet partner needs through 1-hour consultations during six-week courses.
