2020 DIAA Football Champions Crowned<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dover, DE<\/strong> (December 20, 2020) \u2013 Yesterday the 2020 DIAA D1 and D2 Football Champions were crowned at Dover High School.\u00a0The D1 Championship match up was #2 Middletown High School versus #4 Sussex Central High School.\u00a0Sussex Central led the entire game, and claimed their second D1 Football Championship, winning 28-19. This is Sussex Central’s second title in the last three years since last winning the title in 2018.\u00a0This was Middletown’s second straight appearance in the Championship game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The D2 Football Championship was the tale of two undefeated teams; #1 Archmere Academy came into the championship with a record of 8-0 and Howard High School of Technology\u2019s record was 7-0.\u00a0Howard was looking to defend their state title from 2019; and they did just that.\u00a0Howard got off to a fast start and held a 18-0 lead at halftime, ultimately winning the DIAA D2 Football State Championship, 42-6.\u00a0This is Howard\u2019s second straight state title and their third title in the last five years.\u00a0Archmere was handed their first loss of the season in the championship game and they were playing for their fourth State Championship in school history, previously winning in 1982, 1980, and 1979.\u00a0<\/div>\n
