Dover, DE (May 15, 2024)<\/strong> The DIAA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 DIAA\/Harry Roberts Senior Scholar Athlete awards.\u00a0 Megann Dombchik, Concord High School, a three sport student-athlete, national honor society member and member of 6 different clubs and Krish Shjpaul, Newark Charter Senior High School, a three sport student athlete, Model United Nations Outstanding Delegate, a Presidential scholar and an volunteer for the Therapeutic Riding and Ongoing Training program (TROT) have been named this year\u2019s girls and boys first place recipients.\u00a0 Elizabeth Dill, Dover High School, Addison Kennedy, Newark Charter High School, Patrick Craig, Caesar Rodney High School and Samuel Felice, Salesianum High School were also named as recipients.<\/p>\n

The Award is named in recognition and memory of Dr. Harry Roberts, former Superintendent of the Caesar Rodney School District who served DIAA on several committees, most notably as Chair of the DIAA Sportsmanship committee for many years.\u00a0 The awards are presented annually by the DIAA based on a student\u2019s academic, athletic and leadership accomplishments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Sportsmanship Committee had a difficult job this year as this year\u2019s applicants were exemplary.\u00a0 It is a testament these student athletes\u2019 commitment to their academic and athletic achievements. The exceptional qualities these young people possess were evident.\u00a0 The field is a living tribute to the benefits of participation in interscholastic athletics.\u00a0\u00a0 These student-athletes exemplify the outstanding job DIAA member schools are doing in providing a well-rounded educational experience for Delaware\u2019s young people.\u201d said Executive Director David L. Baylor.<\/p>\n

Since this award\u2019s inception in 1999, the DIAA has named 142 scholarship recipients from 39 different member schools.<\/p>\n
