Donna J. PolkExecutive Director

Donna Polk was hired as the 9th DIAA executive director since the organization’s inception in 1945 in February 2021. She is the organization’s first female director and first African American director.  No stranger to DIAA, Polk served as DIAA’s coordinator of interscholastic athletics since November 2018.

Prior to joining DIAA, she worked a short stint at Indian River High School, serving as student advisor and head girls varsity basketball coach. She brings 14 years of experience at the collegiate level, working as associate athletic director/senior woman administrator at Bowie State University and compliance coordinator/sports information director/office manager at Columbia Union College, now Washington Adventist University.  Polk has experience in administration, game day management, facilities and operations, compliance and governance, human resources, internal operations and sport supervision.

She served on several campus committees while at Bowie State University. At the conference level, she served on basketball, softball, women’s volleyball and bowling sport committees. She also was president of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Senior Woman Administrators and served nationally on the NCAA softball ranking committee as well as the women’s basketball national and regional ranking committees.

During her time at Bowie State University, she served as head women’s basketball coach for three seasons, compiling a 55-29 record. As head coach her team reached the conference championship twice and was ranked regionally during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. She also has experience as head and assistant women’s basketball coach at Columbia Union College and head varsity and junior varsity girls basketball coach and assistant junior varsity softball coach at Bowie High School.

Polk was a student-athlete at Columbia Union College, where she was a member of the women’s basketball and softball teams. She is a member of the 1,000-point women’s basketball club.  Polk earned a Bachelor of Science degree in counseling psychology from Columbia Union College and a Master of Arts degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix.  Polk, a Delaware native, graduated from Sussex Central High School in the Indian River School District, where she was a three-sport athlete playing field hockey, basketball and softball.

Stephanie J. MarkCoordinator of Interscholastic Athletics

Stephanie joined the DIAA staff in June 2020. She brings with her a strong track record in cultivating positive student-athlete experiences and leading athletic programs at the college, high-school, and youth sports levels. Prior to joining the DIAA, Stephanie served as an Assistant Athletic Director at Sanford School. Prior to Sanford, Stephanie had a successful college coaching career, serving as the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Occidental College (Los Angeles, CA) and Allegheny College (Meadville, PA). She was also actively involved in growing the sport of lacrosse on the west coast and providing playing opportunities as a club lacrosse founder and director. She was also a womens lacrosse graduate assistant at Goucher College (Baltimore, MD) where she started her coaching career. Stephanie has international coaching experience – coaching lacrosse in England and Scotland; and was on the coaching staff for the Costa Rica Men’s Lacrosse team in the 2014 World Lacrosse Championship. Steph earned her Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Athletic Program Administration and Leadership from Goucher College and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology from Johns Hopkins University, where she was also member of the Division 1 women’s lacrosse team. Stephanie is a graduate of Shawnee High School (NJ) and played lacrosse, basketball and soccer. Her renegade girls lacrosse squad competed for three NJSIAA girls lacrosse championships. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, cooking, and traveling.

Tanya ReedDIAA Administrative Assistant

Since joining DIAA in February 2021, Tanya comes to the team with 27 years of state service, most recently she was the Asbestos Licensing Coordinator for OMB/Facilities Management. In this role she licensed all Contractors, Professional Service Firms, Supervisors, Workers and Project Monitors to do Asbestos work throughout the State of Delaware. Prior to her role as the Licensing Coordinator, she was the assistant to the Director of Facilities Management. She has also worked for DelDot, DHSS, and even did a 3 month stint with DOE in 2005.

In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, crafting, attending her children’s sporting events, and watching them show animals at the State Fair.
