Nomination Statement
Daughter of Sean and Jennifer Costello of Lewes, Kathryn is a passionate tennis player and was named most valuable player of the varsity team in 2023. She has also received the Academic All-Conference award for three consecutive years. A talented musician, Kathryn is an All-State Band member, serving as both the flute section leader and a drum major. Her accolades include the Superintendent's Commendation in 2022 and first place in the State DECA Innovation Plan competition in 2025. With a weighted GPA of 4.180, Kathryn intends to major in biology on a pre-medicine track.
“My inspiration to succeed originates from the values my parents instilled in me. From a young age my father would often tell me 'carpe diem' which translates to 'seize the day'. My mother taught me that you get out of life what you put into it. Thanks to the values I was brought up with I have always felt a drive to seize the day I am given and put in my best to get the most out of it.”
