Nomination Statement
Kara McCarthy is a student who has been at the top of her class since her freshman year. She has been driven to make the most of her educational experiences. She has participated in many co-curricular activities, athletics, and volunteer opportunities. She has been very giving of her time at school and in her community. When she graduates in May, she will have earned over 50 college credits from Delaware State University, all before her 18th birthday.
“My parents have always contributed largely to my success. They have supported me and allowed me to mold my life. They never pressured me into a predestined path, instead emphasizing my right to choose a path that would bring me happiness. Their unwavering support allowed me to explore, stumble, learn, and, ultimately, discover my passion: sustainability. Because of their permissiveness, I can pursue a career fighting climate change, a dream born from both their encouragement and their unconditional love.”
