Nomination Statement
Son of Bharath Varadarajan and Lakshmi Perumalsamy, Arjun is ranked second in his graduating class with a 4.609. Arjun's impressive achievements outside of the classroom include being a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship, placing first at HOSA state competition and Top 10 at the HOSA International level and serving as the State of Delaware HOSA vice president. He has volunteered at Odessa Fire Company, Bayhealth, and Christiana Care Hospital. Arjun participated in DSU CIBER Summer Research Program and DSU AInsect Research. Arjun will attend Harvard University and pursue a career in medicine or biotech/biology research.
“The biggest influence for me that pushed me to do well was the unconditional support and encouragement of my family, which provided a strong foundation for me in all of my academic and extracurricular endeavors. I was also greatly motivated seeing all of the sacrifices that my family has made in order to place me in a position where I am able to succeed, and I will continue to be grateful for these things as I continue onwards into the next chapter of my life.”
