“Growing up in Syria, school was hard for me as a deaf student. My mother did not let me give up. She sat with me for hours and taught me to read, write, and speak. She researched and decided our family would move to America. I could go to a deaf school and have more opportunities. She didn't want me to be helpless. With her love, guidance, and support, I became the strong woman I am today - just like her. ”
