Nomination Statement
Layla Browne, the daughter of Wallace and Promise Browne from Newark, is not only ranked first in her graduating class, but is also a versatile three-season athlete who earned 2nd team all-conference recognition in volleyball. Layla also actively engages with her community, contributing her time and efforts as a dedicated member of the Boys and Girls Club. Her commitment extends to volunteering within her community and providing tutoring support. Layla's commitment to excellence will undoubtedly serve her well as she embarks on the pursuit of biology/physician assistant studies at DeSales University.
“Perception has always been a key factor in my motivation. With my family's support, realizing that viewing every opportunity as a growing opportunity helped me shift my thinking into positive outlooks. 'Life is going to feed you, you eat it, you grow'. This is something that I remembered and throughout any adversity, I always remind myself that there is a chance to learn and improve. I try to consistently tell myself that to keep going, is to keep growing.”
