Nomination Statement
A National Merit Commended Scholar, a Presidential Scholar nominee, an AP Scholar with Distinction, and an AP Capstone diploma candidate, ranked second in his class, Irwin is a talented artist and an engaged member of our school community. A leader in his chosen areas, each of Irwin's extracurricular activities is a reflection of his academic and personal interests. He is a multi-medalist and captain of the Science Olympiad team, co-president of the Asian Student Association, a Model U.N. senior leader, and National Honor Society secretary. Currently still weighing his college options, Irwin plans to pursue his studies in chemical engineering.
“I've always held onto the belief that when you love what you do, it doesn't feel like work. I can't say I loved all of high school, but finding joy in chemistry and clubs made the years fly by. I'm thankful for my peers and mentors whose infectious passion made me love STEM just as much as they did. Above all, I am grateful that my community has allowed my innate sense of humor to find expression in my endeavors. ”
