Nomination Statement
Kareem Shakir is the son of Tamirah Coleman and nephew of Zahkeya Al-Amin of Wilmington. Kareem is a talented, highly motivated, and driven young man. He ranks No. 2 in his class with a weighted GPA of 4.29. Kareem is a model student within his Howard community. He’s a member of the cross country track team and, in his spare time, enjoys spending time with family and friends.
“What motivates me to do well are the standards I set for myself. I want to be seen as someone who is reliable, responsible, and consistent. That requires me to be successful in my classes. Earning good grades is the beginning for people to see that I am capable of great things. My motivation also comes from my mom’s constant support. She has invested in me, so I must strive to show why I was worth it.”
