Nomination Statement
Afreen, a computer science major, is the daughter of Salma Syed and Faiz Shaik. As an artist who hopes to grow her business, a storyteller who has illustrated three books, and an engineer, she hopes to utilize these skills as an architect. Though she's pursuing architecture, she has a keen interest in secondary education and hopes to grow as an educator and design the classrooms of tomorrow.

Whether providing resources, guidance, driving me to competitions, or reminding me to care for my mental health, they have always been there for me. Their dedication to building a better life for their children in America has inspired me to strive for mastery.”
