The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) appreciates the quick response of Delaware State Police and school personnel after shots were fired in the parking lot following the DIAA boys basketball tournament game at Sussex Central High School last night. A 15-year-old student faces charges. Questions regarding the investigation should be directed to Delaware State Police. Safety and security are a top concern for DIAA events. DIAA leaders are working closely with law enforcement and school leaders to plan appropriate security measures for tonight’s games and future DIAA events. Our student athletes have worked hard to reach the tournament, and they and their fans deserve an opportunity for them to compete in a safe environment.
